La Vila del Joy is a festival that we hold dear and feel very close to for obvious reasons: the event, which this year has reached its tenth edition, is organized by our co-founder, co-director and oboist, Pere Saragossa. It has been a joy to see how Pere’s initiative, together with the Ateneu d’Història i Art of La Vila Joiosa, grows and consolidates year after year, and also to have the opportunity to contribute with our music.
This year, we performed the first of five concerts with the same program with which we closed the Femäp last August, Nel profondo cieco mondo, dedicated to the music of Vivaldi and Terradellas, in which we have the valuable collaboration of mezzo-soprano Marta Infante.
It goes without saying that we are devoted to Vivaldi’s music and that the Venetian composer accompanies us in almost every season. If in La Vila Joiosa we performed arias from operas such as Farnace, Orlando furioso, or Orlando finto pazzo (we love bravura!), we also regularly bring his instrumental works to the stage, such as the famous Four Seasons. Stay tuned for the dates we will announce because this year we are returning to the Palau de la Música with them!
As for Terradellas, we champion his work and are committed to its promotion. The fireworks of the Neapolitan school are reflected in this program with arias like Dimmi che un impio (Artaserse) or the overture to Imeneo in Atene. If you have already discovered Terradellas, the most internationally renowned Catalan musician of his time, and probably the best, you know what we’re talking about. If not, we invite you to join us for one of the performances of Giuseppe riconosciuto that we are preparing for this season.
