This is not the first time we participate in the Espurnes Barroques festival, and we feel right at home there. In fact, we are pleased to offer this year's closing concert once again, just like we did last year. And we will not be alone: on June 9th, we will be joined by our friend Núria Rial in Sant Miquel de Castelltallat, in the municipality of Sant Mateu de Bages, to perform a program centered on Bach and other composers of his milieu.
We are fortunate to have the exquisite Núria and her crystal-clear voice for this afternoon, where we will journey through joy, sorrow, and finally, glory, as per the theme of the 2024 edition of this special festival, which, in addition to music, allows us to enjoy the country's architectural heritage and local gastronomy.
Works by Johann Sebastian and Johann Christoph Bach, Dietrich Buxtehude, and Philipp Heinrich Erlebach in an intimate setting where we will explore concepts such as spirituality (J.S. Bach's Easter Oratorio), love (with J.C. Bach's cantata Meine Freundin, du bist schön, written to celebrate a wedding), and emotion (Erlebach's Seine Not recht überlegen wird manch Tränen-Bad erregen). Additionally, our conductor, Dani Espasa, has arranged the Passacaglia in C minor, BWV 582, by the most celebrated of the Bachs, for the occasion.
A concert where you will be able to enjoy up close and personal our music and one of the most eminent sopranos of the current scene. A Baroque celebration that brings community together.
