Spanish Premiere
In 2027 we will perform Alessandro by Handel at the Palau de la Música
AlessandroHaendel

A star-studded cast for an evening that promises to be unforgettable. Alessandro, the opera that Händel composed in 1726 to showcase the castrato Senesino and the rival divas Faustina Bordoni and Francesca Cuzzoni, has never been performed in Spain despite being one of the most celebrated works by the composer from Halle: a true gem of melodic invention and vocal virtuosity. The score explores the doubts of Alexander the Great, torn between two women after one of his legendary conquests and threatened by conspiracies around him.

The wait will end on April 21, 2027, when we will have the pleasure of taking the stage at the Palau de la Música as part of the Palau Òpera series accompanied by extraordinarily talented friends such as Xavier Sabata, Emöke Baráth, Anna Brull and Josep-Ramon Olivé. Through their voices we will experience moments of intense lyricism and emotional power in arias such as Vibra, cortese Amor, Men fedele, men costante, and Vano amore, the latter performed by the character of Alexander and recorded with Xavier Sabata on the CD Alessandro amante.

This is a unique opportunity, as today this opera is rarely staged despite its impact in Händel’s time. A distinguished, refined work, filled with moments that leave the audience breathless.

Tickets will be available from May 18, 2026.
