We are pleased to announce the first Vespres d’Arnadí Festival, from Barcelona to the world.
We wish to showcase the historical locations in our city that are ideal for listening to Baroque repertoire, based on what you would have heard during the time period. We hope that both locals and visitors who seek a high-quality cultural experience will join us.
Four concerts will be offered in this first edition. All of them are related to Vivaldi's Venice, a city where the most outstanding European composers premiered part of their works.
Domènec Terradellas, a Catalan, was among these composers. He premiered two of his operas, Artaserse and Imeneo in Atene. In addition, according to period records, the Pla brothers performed some of their instrumental pieces in the Serenissima. Musicologist Josep Dolcet will be giving an introductory talk about the composers and contemporary 18th-century Venice before every concert.
The concerts will be performed by Vespres d’Arnadí, featuring Dani Espasa (soloist and conductor), Emiliano Gonzalez Toro (tenor), María Hinojosa (soprano), Marta Infante (mezzo-soprano), Farran Sylvan James (violin), Sara Parés (recorder) and Pere Saragossa (oboe).
