In the days of Bach writing a concert for harpsichord as soloist was a novelty. In fact, fifteen concerts for Bach's harpsichord are actually transcripts made by the composer of works (own or from other authors) written for other instruments. The result in any case is a good proof of the ductility of Bach's music, capable of sounding in a consistent and robust way, regardless of the instruments that are chosen to perform it.
