VESPRES D’ARNADÍ is an ensemble specialized in the performance of Baroque music played with period musical instruments created in 2005 under the direction of Dani Espasa and Pere Saragossa. The aim of VESPRES D’ARNADÍ is to offer versions full of emotion, freshness and spontaneity using, in addition to their own criteria, different resources bequeathed in treatises, chronicles and other historical sources.

Among their performances, they include those ones from the most importants Festivals of Southwest of Europe. The first album, recorded under the label MUSIÈPOCA, and appeared in December 2009, was dedicated to Charles Desmazures’s “Pièces de simphonie”, album that has received excellent reviews and won the Muse d'Or in June 2010. The second album with the same label appeared in March 2011 was dedicated to Josep Mir i Llussà's sacred music, album that won the Muse du Mois in July, August and September 2011. The academies, name given to the concerts in the eighteenth century, were usually offered in the evenings (VESPRES in Catalan language) as a “dessert” for the distinguished dinners in the homes of nobles and bourgeois families. Pumpkin, sugar and almonds are the ingredients of ARNADÍ, perhaps the world’s oldest dessert, and even today it can be tasted in Xàtiva and other areas south of Valencia.
